Private Medical Insurance covers some or all private healthcare costs to treat a condition specified in the terms.
It is paid annually or monthly and can range from basic policies covering in-patient treatment, such as surgery, to more extensive policies which fund diagnostic tests and follow-up appointments.
Even if you can receive treatment from the NHS, private healthcare will often give you:
• Shorter waiting times to get access to treatment quicker
• A wider choice of treatments to give you more options, often including treatments and medication which are not available on the NHS
• Improved hospital accommodation so you will feel more comfortable if you need to stay overnight. This will usually be in a private room with a TV and ensuite bathroom
• The opportunity to select your preferred hospital and consultants
Without insurance, private healthcare can be expensive but the cost of a policy is a wise investment as it often works out cheaper than paying treatment outright.
Depending on which provider you choose, you may also be able to receive dental treatment, eye care, pregnancy and maternity services, mental health support and more.
You can get individual cover just for you, or include your partner or family to protect your loved ones too.
The cost and cover you receive varies enormously on your age, lifestyle and if you have any pre-existing conditions. The premiums will also be higher if you want to cover more serious conditions, such as cancer. I will work with you to find the right level of cover to match your wishes and circumstances, for the best value.
